This morning, after Ivan and I had had our breakfast in the ship's dining room, we were trying to decide if we should go ashore in Trondheim, a city at which we were to be docked until about noon. At about 8:45 the phone in our cabin rang, but it took us a moment to realize that that was the odd sound we heard. Ivan answered, made a couple of puzzled comments and said that we were wanted at the reception area of deck 3, which, incidentally, is the deck on which our cabin is located. We walked the length of the hallway and there, in front of the reception desk, was a woman whose likeness I had seen only in photos. I said to her, "Astrid?" She absolutely beamed and we threw our arms around each other. Ivan, Astrid and I spent the entire morning wandering around Trondheim with our own personal guide and getting to know each other better. Astrid came down to Trondheim on the train last night, sleeping in a seat and arriving here quite early. She is booked in Cabin 302 (we're in 363) and we'll all disembark in Nesna tomorrow morning at 5:30AM! (She and I are second cousins - our grandfathers were brothers.) It was a most delightful surprise!
